Rethinking the Golf Ball Rollback

This project explores the controversy surrounding the USGA’s proposed golf ball rollback, which aims to limit driving distance in professional golf. Rather than restricting technology, the project advocates for alternative solutions that preserve the challenge of the game without negatively impacting recreational players. Through research and analysis, it highlights course design modifications such as narrowing fairways, adding strategic hazards, and adjusting tee angles as more effective ways to maintain the skill-based nature of golf. By proposing a decision-making framework that prioritizes player evolution, sustainability, and fair competition, this project challenges the necessity of a rollback and offers a more balanced approach to golf’s future.
