BIA Bike Ring Redesign

A disk brake-inspired bike ring for Toronto BIA, made from CorTen steel with multiple locking points for security.

This project is a bike ring redesign for the Toronto BIA, inspired by the aesthetics and functionality of a disk brake rotor. Originally conceptualized as a train wheel design, the concept evolved to better suit the needs of urban cyclists, offering a secure and adaptable locking solution. The ring is water-cut from CorTen steel for durability and weather resistance, with varying hole sizes and heights to accommodate different locking positions. Designed for temporary or permanent installation, the bike ring is anchored into the ground with concrete for stability. This project merges industrial design with urban infrastructure, creating a functional and visually striking addition to the city’s streetscape.
